Volunteer Training

When you sign up to join our volunteer team you’ll be able to access an online training course and you must complete this course before you are able to access the LiDAR portal.

The training covers everything you need to know from what is LiDAR and how it works, how it is used to understand the historic landscape and what sorts of features we can record. There is also a “how-to” section with videos showing how to use the Ridgeway Portal to map features.

Each month the volunteers will meet on zoom with LiDAR portal lead, Rebecca Bennett and Historic Ridgeway Project team members to discuss the features that have been found. The project team will provide a general update but anyone is welcome to bring sites and features to the meeting to discuss in the round.
